Will Your Bus (or Classroom) Run Smoothly?

Though there are a few weeks left in the 2012-2013 school year, many teachers, both those who will begin as first-year teachers as well as those who are veterans, will soon begin planning for the 2013-2014 school year.  As you plan and prepare for the arrival of students in August, 2013, think about an analogy shared by author Annette Breaux. Classroom management is like the tires on a school bus. Good tires make it possible for the bus to transport students in a smooth fashion, while the students probably don’t even notice the tires. Good classroom management makes learning possible; if the management is in place, the classroom runs smoothly. Aim for a smooth start!
